As a student at UIUC, I used to eat here at least once a week. I came so often, the owner started to give me an extra side dish of Kimchi.
Driving across country this summer, I decided to stop in, and it's still as delicious as I remember. The spicy pork is phenomenal, and I say that as a person who has eaten bulgogi all across the country and on both coasts. The pork is perfectly stir fried, and their spicy sauce has just enough mix of kick to flavor. The veggies are crisp, and the jalapeños give some wonderful extra heat.
The kimchi, as well, is always superior in quality, partially because it isn't cold when served to you.
It's more like room temperature, which helps accentuate the flavor.
The people here are nice, will notice you as a repeat customer, and were a big part of my comfort and joy as a graduate student.
I miss this place. If you're in Champaign/Urbana and have a chance to go, I can't recommend it enough. -

From afar, this place looks like a hole-in-the-wall kind of restaurant and I'll have to be honest... I was skeptical and kinda reluctant to go. Due to my friend's suggestion to go there for lunch, I decided to give this place a chance. I love Korean food and discovering new spots is always a good thing. Well, I sure am glad I gave this place a try. Their location is small and usually packed, but their menu is quite extensive! They have all sorts of stews (jjigae), meat dishes, noodles, rice dishes, and prices are pretty reasonable. You order at the counter, get a buzzer, and wait for your order to be buzzed. Utensils and water is self serve. Due to the location, there are lots of students and it's very busy. But service is quick and easy so I noticed that finding a table wasn't difficult since people ate and left right away.
One thing I learned again... don't just a book by its cover! -

Cravings for Korean food satisfied in this lil spot. Their omurice is loaded, and the seafood noodles are insane! Has all kinds of seafood on a big bowl...its not even a bowl its like a big pot good for 2-3 people. Will definitely come back!

Huge amount of food for price! I went here with my friend for lunch and both of us could not finish what we had ordered. The food is homemade, warm, cozy, and came quickly (10-15 min). I would definitely return, and on an empty stomach!

I got bulgogi and kimchi here and I found this bug in my food! It has wings, the size of a bean and I ate it!! I called the store back once I figured out I had eaten a gross bug in the kimchi and they told me "sorry we closed" numerous time and HUNG UP ON ME! This is completely disgusting and so unprofessional! I will be contacting this restaurant tomorrow!
This bug literally could be anything! I'm thinking it's a cockroach of some sort based on its crunch and displeasing taste when I unwillingly ate it!
So upset!
